Oct 21 Day of Trip Soria Spain (2nd day of our Trip basically)

Oct 21 Day of Trip Soria Spain (2nd day of our Trip basically)

We went to bed very early on Thursday night at Parador Soria. We  stayed home for just light bar snacks, having eaten various times throughout Wed night and thru the wet Thursday and we crashed at only 945PM and did not awaken until 0852 Friday AM with a breakfast booking at 0900! I have not slept like that since I was a teenager! No time for a shower! We dressed in a hurry, and we were off to the races to start the day!

Hanging mist outside and only 49oF feeling chilly and damp. Maintenance came while we were at breakfast and replaced the batteries in the laptop safe in our room. The day continued with low hanging clouds, misting rain and other time light showers on and off. As we drove looking for a supermarket the sun actually popped thru the clouds for a moment and even helped display a majestic rainbow from the west of Soria to the East. NO pot of gold found!

We finally found Supermarket Al Campo and stocked up!! Let me explain, we usually get a box of tissues, large bottles of water, laundry soap and perhaps a bottle of wine. Paul calls them our groceries!

After we picked up our few things we found our lunch of tapas in Soria city center. Juevos rotos y jamon, Paul had calamares and two tigres. Actually, we were still in a bit of a daze after the previous days confusion and feeling a little bit off. We went looking for an ancient, originally, Romanesque but rebuilt by the knights Templar but as we had been driving around aimlessly for ages, by the time we found it, it was closed for Siesta! We decided to head back to the hotel for a siesta and come back later when it opened at 4pm…..Right!......didn’t happen!

New plan, bars snacks again as it was, too cool to venture back into town and parking was lousy. Missed the ancient church opening times, yet again!

Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
Let me explain, the Parador is on top of a hill with very narrow roads. Luckily it is very nice and comfortable, the food is excellent. Pinchos, and tortillas, sandwiches etc. We were still recovering from the previous two days!
